What do you think about refocusing this clip slightly, renaming it "Designing Programs" and then focus on these pieces: ELA double periods, houses, and Mark's independent studies? We could then use just a little about the individual student's case study in the "Providing Intervention" clip...see comments under that clip for specifics).
Here are some other suggestions:
Mark's beginning comments are a little weak. Maybe begin with "So, for the past few years for English...." and add a little more to illustrate remediation in the writing class before moving onto houses to provide some transition between topics.
Re Houses:
use "we've had houses for 5 years, what's new this year is that the houses have themes, and the themes are based upon different careers in medicine and health" (omit Inez's comment re: surveys)
use "you have a lot of support for each student because in each house you have a counselor and house coordinator" (omit other comments from this section to increase the pace a bit if possible)
use "we plan activities in each house" (and related examples)
use "the experiment this year was....so we're going back to horizontal" (retain this entire section)
omit discussion of individual student's case as noted above
retain all of the independent study piece. I think this works well! I wonder if we should lead with it since it seems strong, but I'm not sure if that works conceptually. You?
Thanks!
i agree with Marla that the case study of the student should be under the intervention video
