Edison "Focusing on Academics" v3
Trimmed out the ELL section significantly, taking a good 30 seconds off the clip. I agree about starting with Ilona and then having the “subtitle” come up, but I also think that using various methods of this “subtitling’ works also. It’s also tricky too because a lot of the clips begin with a talking head and I’m not sure that putting a subtitle over them would work (I’m also pushing the limits of the broll on this case).

The ELL section works really well. I especially like the way the cutaway shots highlight the print-rich environment that we saw.
Using various subtitle methods works for me, especially when there are some (but not all) consistent elements used.
What do you think about leaving the text on screen just a bit longer for added emphasis? Or maybe fade to black in between sections to provide more transition between topics?
